Once upon a time, there was a girl named Molly. Mollyβs job was to milk cows and sell the milk at the market. She loved to imagine all the things she could buy with the money she earned.
One day, as Molly was filling her pails with milk, she started thinking about what she wanted to spend her money on. She imagined buying a yummy cake and a basket full of juicy strawberries. It made her so happy just thinking about it.
As Molly walked along the road to the market, she saw a chicken. She had a brilliant idea! βIβll use the money I make today to buy my very own chicken,β she thought excitedly. βThen the chicken will lay eggs, and I can sell the eggs along with the milk! Iβll have even more money!β
Molly even started skipping with joy, forgetting about the milk in her pails. But then, disaster struck. The milk started spilling out and soon Molly was covered in it. She realized that she had been so caught up in her dreams that she had forgotten about her important task.
With a heavy heart, Molly went home with empty pails. Her mother was shocked to see her in such a mess. βWhat happened to you, Molly?β her mother asked.
Molly sighed and explained, βI was too busy daydreaming about all the things I wanted to buy that I forgot about the milk.β
Her mother looked at her with love and said, βOh, Molly, my dear. Remember, we should never count on something good happening before it actually does. Just like the saying, βDonβt count your chickens before they hatch.ββ
And so, Molly learned a valuable lesson that day. She realized that itβs important to focus on the present moment and do her tasks carefully, instead of getting lost in daydreams about the future.
The moral of the story is: Donβt assume, things will turn out the way you want them to until they actually happen.
